Nora Unkel is a co-founder of Wild Obscura Films, where she works as a director, writer, and producer. She is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a degree in Film & TV production, with minors in music and history. Her short film “The Goblin Song”, which she wrote and directed, premiered at The Sacramento Film and Music Festival and won several awards at the First Run Film Festival in New York City. Nora is a two-time winning Best Producer at the First Run Festival. Wild Obscura’s latest short film, “Opera of Cruelty”, of which she was a lead producer, won the Student Academy Award in 2017. Nora’s script for her feature film, A Nightmare Wakes, was among the top 2% of entrants for The Academy’s Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship program, receiving high remarks from several Academy Award winning filmmakers, as well as one of's top 10 scripts of 2016. A Nightmare Wakes has since gone on to pitch at IFP Week, Frontieres Market, and the MOME Financing Lab and is slated to shoot in 2018.
